Facebook Guide: How do I get rid of ads on Facebook if the usual blocker doesn't work?
While ad blockers can handle blocking standard banners and pop-ups, Facebook ads are another story by Poidu.com
Facebook uses a slightly different advertising system from other websites and, in addition to banners, finds ads, or sponsored posts, in its news feed.
Normal ad blockers do not help here. Fortunately, though, there is a browser extension like Facebook Purity that lets you customize the look of Facebook and also has the ability to block ads. You can download it here (should work on any browser).
After installing the extension and then opening Facebook, Facebook may look a bit "broken". Don't worry: the top blue bar now has an FBP button where you can customize the extension. If you're only interested in blocking ads, cross the sponsored posts / box and click save and exit. The feed should now be empty of ads.
In addition to blocking ads, Facebook Purity does other useful things like hiding other posts you don't want in your feed, like pictures, videos, upcoming events, and more.
